Why do some cups have a red dot on the bottom? Almost like a nail polish. I’ve seen several like that of different cups.

Hi 😊

It could be a color code or something for the purpose of inventory and of significance only for those who manufacture it or the pottery from which it was made from. I have search other sites for other reasons but failed to find any. Please do wait for other members to add their comments as well. Some cups are marked with numbers while others are marked with letters. Again, these are of significance for inventory purpose or to signify the model or batch.

Best regards!
