1951 Catcher in the Rye Without Edition Stated

I recently received a curious copy of Catcher in the Rye. It is a Little Brown copy, with the copyright date of 1951, yet the edition is not stated.

It has no book club markings, nor facsimile markings. The rear panel is blank white--no author photo. The jacket contains no information, aside from info about the book and author. The spine is stamped with gilt lettering. it is 277pgs, and, by the look and feel of it, very old.

This seems to be somewhat of an anomaly. I have found no info on it on the internet. If anyone has any insight regarding this strange copy, please let me know.

Hello Paul 😊

I have run across this book posted on Abe Books. Is this the one you are referring to?

Hi there.

The first link takes me to a page that no longer exists. Thanks for the extra specs regarding the first edition. Like I said, my copy doesn't seem to fit the parameters for either the first edition or a later copy. It's definitely not post 1970 (no ISBN), but for that matter, there's no price on my copy of the book. Strange. If you, or if anyone else, finds anything out about this, let me know.

Hi Paul

Sorry about that, the link that I have previously failed to work. However I was able to edit my response kindly click it again and see if it works.

Best regards!

I happened upon a copy with identical specs to what you indicated - 1951, no edition noted, same jacket details and no ISBN. Did you ever find anything more about yours?
