I inherited a Golden Replicas of United States Stamps program from my grandmother and if I am reading the first page correctly it says that she is eligible to receive a 22kt Gold Replica Stamp for each important new stamp issued. It also says that the Gold Replica will be enclosed within an official First Day Cover bearing the First Day Issue postmark of the First Day City designated by the U.S. Postal Service. And then is signed by Steve Gordon.... So... Do enherit stamps she was suppose to receive since she past away in 2003?

As these 'programs' require that you pay (e.g. per release or monthly) nobody can come around after years demanding items that where never paid for.

Also, gold replicas of stamps were not issued by the post office itself, but rather by private (and sometimes dubious) companies seeking to profit from the hobby of stamp collecting. These are normally not cataloged and the value per item is speculative in nature, these items sell for $1 to $5 on eBay as they are not stamps per definition and the gold percentage is microscopic.

Stick to the term 'gold replicas' as the term 'stamps' for these items has been turned down by various (international) court decisions more than once (Scottish STAFFA affair, etc).

That is not true. They are worth more than that. if you have a book that is 100% full it is worth $1,200.00 approximately on Amazon.com.

I have a book as well, but what is considered a complete set? The book I have has 40 stamps with the replicas and are marked first day of issue from mainly 1986 an 1987, but one is marked from 1981 Kennedy Space center.

I have not seen $1,200 anywhere. Of course, you can ASK for whatever you want on sites like eBay, CraigsList, etc. What I have seen is complete books, containing approx. 75 stamps, going for around $100. (See http://www.amazon.com/GOLDEN-REPLICAS-UNITED-replicas-gleaming/dp/ B003A797YK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1318524764&sr=8-1)

That sounds more logical. People tend to over estimate the books they have. Maybe because it was made to look 'important'.

Dadzpil, I think there's no point in getting your hopes so high. I just checked Amazon and Ebay and those books are sold there for less than $100. Check here: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_kw=Golden&_kw=Replicas& _kw=United&_kw=States&_kw=Stamps&_ipg=

I REALIZE THE GOLD REPLICAS ARE NOT STAMPS OR GOLD FOR THAT MATTER, BUT ARE THE STAMPS THAT COME WITH THEM REAL US STAMPS?

Unfortunately, replica stamps don't carry a collectors value like they do to the owner of them. But it's a good way to start a stamp collection that might increase in value over the years.

no monetary value.
The stamps are so thin it would take thousands to equal the weight of a penny. Some books will fetch $10 bucks complete. I saw a set of 4 complete books that got 1 bid for 9.99

Why is it illegal? It isn't real stamps but it is a legal collectible and there are people who collect those replicas. Check ebay. There are many such books for sale.

You are almost right. There's no bids on most of them. Only 2 with bids ask for lower prices ($30,$40) I guess the demand is not that great.

Check the completed listings of golden replica stamps on ebay. It will give you a good idea about what people are willing to pay for it.

It seems it is much better to try to sell via Amazon. I checked ebay and you can find those there even for $20 per 75 stamps. See here: http://www.ebay.com/sch/?_nkw=golden%20replica% 20stamps&clk_rvr_id=424102752709
