I have a set of 12 .999 Silver Ingots from the Postal Commemorative Society and Disney depicting Disney Movies like Steam Boat Willie, Lion King, Alice in Wonderland, and more. One Side is painted, the other side has the name of the movie and the date it was released. I would like to find out its value and sell the complete set.
The ingots are one troy ounce each which is a little more than the ounces we measure in. The spot price for silver is about $19.50/ounce at today's price. Unfortunately this price varies wildly lately. The $19.50 is the highest it's been in quite a while. This would make your troy ounce ingots worth about $21.00/ea at the spot price. Usually this set comes with a nice collectors box and has "some" collectors value, especially to Disney collectors. Right now though most people are just buying silver at or near spot price. There is a set on Ebay today with seven ingots in the collectors box starting the auction at $149.00. There are no bids at this time.
If you would be interested in selling the whole set as one piece, which I would highly recommend doing, let me know what you would want for them using this as a guideline. I don't have any idea what you originally paid for them, but I would imagine you could make some profit, which in the collecting world is rare.
DO YOU KNOW WO MINTED THE SET?
The set of 12 .999 silver bars has a value much greater then the silver spot price. Don't sell then for the silver value. Do you have the book that came with the set? If not then it's not truly complete. With out the book they are bringing anywhere from $500.00 to $700.00 I haven't seen any with the book. I know the set came with a book, cause I have one.
