Every value of a coin or currency (bill) depends on the grading/quality of it. Has the bill been folded? wrinkled? are there holes? what kind of holes? staples? termites? etc. You can always go on HA.com/currency and see what other like bills auction for to get an up to date value. Bills don't change in value as much as bullion coins do.

Like pricing a car or any other items. 3 means of measuring value are: 1) Advertised price iecraigslist/Ebay or 2) Auctions or what the object actually sells for and 3) Books or local printed price guides that list the item with a current price listed (which usually changes by the year). There may be a 4th way of measuring the value of something, but these are 3 of them.

Again depending on the quality, but normally with XF+ condition could be between $20-$25. People will probably advertise for $30 but settle for less if they need the money. Here is a picture of a Gem Uncirculated bill purchased back in 2004 for $25.

I have a 63 red seal real close to being the shape you have. It was given to me by my mother after my grandfather died. it was in his collection. My grandfather was always a shrewd coin collector. So I couldnt figure out what was so speical about this bill. I did find that someone has writen on it in pencil on the back(the number 175). I guess that would hurt the value of the bill. I keep it just cause it was his.

almost any bill currently not in circulation will be worth 2X face. The value on rarity goes up from there.

dipending on condition it could be worth up to 25 dollars even more. I have a couple that are in good to poor shape and worth a little bit over 15 dollars

How strange. I have one that also has a number on it which is 62. Maybe coincidence and then maybe not. I wonder if their may be some connection?

If you show a picture of the bill including the date, we might be able to place a value on it for you.

A low serial number would be something below 10,000 like D00009541E and then that would be worth about $25-30 if it was in EF condition.

Hold on to it. They aren't making any more of 'em. But keep all bills & paper money out of plastic and in an airtight baggie of sorts to protect against humidity.

Aloha Chip: Nice talking to you today. This is the site I feel is the most accurate site on the coin/currency web called Heritage.com. This is the site I use as my guideline since all coins and currency change often.

The acutal site is http://coins.ha.com/default.php?ic=task-coins-us If you choose to view currency and ask for a specific note, then this is the site you would end up for the bill you wanted to search out.
http://currency.ha.com/common/search_results.php?Nty=1& Ntk=SI_Titles&N=56+790+231& Ntt=1963+red+seal+5+dollar+note

Hope this information works for you. Again, with the information you gave me, I'd hold onto that one as it appears to be worth more tomorrow than you could realize today.

Hi Shawndi - what year are your red seal notes? If they're uncirculated, that's great, if they're in sequence, that's greatX2, if they're in sequence, uncirculated and old you got a winner. Waiting for the year of your notes to take this to the next level. It would also be nice to see a picture of one of your notes.

Here is a 1928 circulated but Fine(12)note. There's obvious circulation wrinkles, but it is about 75 years old. it's worth about $25-30

Hello Tammy - try and post a picture of yours front and back if you'd like to get a value on it. Your note is a '28 or a '63?
