these lights are only gold plated which has collector, promo value. Even if it's working would only be worth about $25-$100 depending on the condition. There are some threads on this subject listed below with other comments. Since I don't recall seing a picture of one on this site before, here is what one looks like.

you have a copy of the promo that was done. Here's another couple of pics of one.

Also, here's a site that sells a gold bar lighter for about $9.99 http://www.zodiacgift.com/cgibin/store.cgi? command=product&item=rp-goldbar2-l

Aloha Timothy:

UBS AG (SIX: UBSN, NYSE: UBS) is a Swiss global financial services company headquartered in Basel and Z├╝rich, Switzerland, which provides investment banking, asset management, and wealth management services for private, corporate, and institutional clients worldwide, as well as retail clients in Switzerland. It operates in more than 40 countries and considered as the world's second largest manager of private wealth assets, with over CHF 2.2 trillion in invested assets. UBS operates in all of the major financial centers worldwide with offices in over 50 countries and 64,000 employees around the world. UBS traces its heritage to 1854 and it is the largest bank in Switzerland.

UBS was originally an abbreviation for the Union Bank of Switzerland, one of its predecessors; however, UBS ceased to be considered a representational abbreviation after its 1998 merger with Swiss Bank Corporation.

For UBS or SBS to make a promo lighter is not beyond belief. They have a swiss history unequal to any other bank in the world. What the value of this lighter is is anybodys guess. But if they ever get caught up in another rogue scandle like the one they are in now, that lighter will be worth a whole lot more, and I doubt if they will be making any more of them.

My opinion - You got a good find with this lighter.

I think selling it would be a bad idea. It'll look much better sitting on a shelf with a story behind it to tell a whole much more than a hundred dollar bill that you'll spend on a hamburger and soda that will eventually lead to high colesterol, irregular heart beat, plugging of the arteries and premature aging.

I bought mine on the autobahn at a rest stop. Great souvenir. 5.90 euros. Price tag still on. Exactly the same as you are all very excited about. Just a nice souvenir. Not real gold.
